\"\"M\u00f3nica Garc\u00eda Fern\u00e1ndez holds a degree in History from the University of Oviedo (2011) and a PhD with European mention from the same University (2019), thanks to a pre-doctoral contract from the Severo Ochoa program of the Principado de Asturias. She has also completed the Erasmus Mundus Master in Women’s and Gender Studies at the University of Oviedo and the University of Hull (2012-13). Since 2024 she has been a researcher in the Ram\u00f3n y Cajal program in the Department of Contemporary History at the Universidad Aut\u00f3noma de Madrid. Previously, she was a beneficiary of the call for recruitment for the specialization of doctoral research staff at the UPV\/EHU (2020-2022) and Margarita Salas postdoctoral researcher at the Centre for the History of Ibero-America (CHIA) of the University of Leeds (2022-2023). In addition, she was a visiting scholar at Rutgers. The State University of New Jersey, the University of Glasgow and the University of Lisbon. In 2023 she was awarded the Beinecke Library Fellowship at Yale University.<\/p>\n

Her research has been focused on the norms and experiences of sexuality and love in Francoism, with an interest also in the intersection between religious and sexual change in the 1960s and 1970s. She addressed these issues in her doctoral thesis, awarded by the Spanish Association for Research in Women’s History (AEIHM) and the Association for Spanish and Portuguese Historical Studies (ASPHS). Her dissertation was published in 2022 by Comares under the title Dos en una sola carne<\/em> izenburuarekin. Matrimonio, amor y sexualidad en la Espa\u00f1a franquista (1939-1975)<\/em>. In addition, her work awarded the Contemporary European History Prize 2020 and the International Society for Cultural History Prize Competition, 2016.<\/p>\n
