Jes\u00fas Espinosa Guti\u00e9rrez earned his PhD Contemporary History at the University of Cantabria with a doctoral thesis entitled \u201cDel discurso al activismo: Los hombres defensores de los derechos de las mujeres en la Espa\u00f1a contempor\u00e1nea\u201d. This research was directed by Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas Gonz\u00e1lez Hern\u00e1ndez (professor of Contemporary History at University of Cantabria).At this moment, he is professor of Economic history and Teaching social sciences in European University of the Atlantic and member of the Board of Directors of Aula Interdisciplinar Isabel Torres de Estudios de las Mujeres y del G\u00e9nero at University of Cantabria.
During his period as a doctoral student he was Research Visitor at Ca\u00f1ada Blanch Centre for Contemporary Spanish Studies (London School of Economics and Political Sciences). Also, in the course of this pre-doctoral stage he was awarded with various research prizes:
\u2013 Premio de investigaci\u00f3n de Historia y Geograf\u00eda de la Facultad de Filosof\u00eda y Letras de la Universidad de Cantabria (Edici\u00f3n 2009) with the text \u201cLas misiones pedag\u00f3gicas en Cantabria (1931-1936)\u201d.
\u2013 XVI Premio SIEM de Investigaci\u00f3n Feminista \u201cConcepci\u00f3n Gimeno de Flaquer\u201d granted by Seminario de Investigaci\u00f3n de Estudios de la Mujer de la Universidad de Zaragoza (2013). He received this prize for the article entitled \u201cEntre la armon\u00eda y la emancipaci\u00f3n de la mujer: nuevas aportaciones en torno a Friedrich Krause y el Krausismo espa\u00f1ol\u201d.
\u2013 Second reward XXIV Premio Divulgaci\u00f3n Feminista Carmen de Burgos given by Asociaci\u00f3n de Estudios Hist\u00f3ricos at University of M\u00e1laga (2014) with the work \u201c\u00bfPor qu\u00e9 un estudio de los hombres feministas desde perspectiva hist\u00f3rica?\u201d.
As a researcher, he has focused his efforts on the analysis of feminist discourses in the modern history of Spain and specifically in the study of the contributions that men made within historical feminisms under the social construction of masculinity. In this regard, among his publications is worth mentioning his book \u201cHombres feministas y masculinidad en la Espa\u00f1a Contempor\u00e1nea\u201d<\/strong>, published in \u201cFeminismos\u201d collection of C\u00e1tedra publishing house in 2022.
